BARENTZ ACQUIRES FORUM
Barentz Europe B.V.-The Netherlands- has acquired Forum Products Ltd- United Kingdom- on December 19th. By this acquisition Barentz will expand its market presence in the UK adding a strong ingredient distributor position in the pharmaceutical, food and animal nutrition markets to its current business. In addition to this expanded UK position, Barentz will further develop its knowledge in these life-science markets. This acquisition fits Barentz’ strategy to become a pan-European leader in the distribution of specialty ingredients.
Barentz GAINS CONTROLLING STAKE in RFI
Barentz Europe B.V. – Netherlands – will acquire a controlling stake in RFI (REWE Food Ingredients)- Germany – by January 2012. This will strengthen the visibility of both organizations in Europe and Asia and offers a solid basis for further growth. With this move Barentz expects to become the European leader in sourcing food ingredients from Asia.
Ravago and Barentz combine Chemical Distribution activities in EMEA
The Ravago Group (Belgium) and Barentz Europe B.V. (Netherlands) decided to combine their chemical distribution activities in a new 50/50 joint venture Barentz Ravago Chemical Specialist SA. The new company will be operational as of January 2012 and aims to become one of the leading chemical speciality distributors in Europe.</
Barentz Europe B.V. strengthens its Central and Eastern European position
Barentz Europe B.V. a Pan European distributor based in The Netherlands, has acquired the minority shares of Barentz Hungary Kft and will from now on be the sole owner of Barentz Hungary Kft. Barentz Hungary Kft was established in 2003 as a joint venture of Barentz Europe B.V. -the majority share holder- and Scanac holding the remaining shares. Today, November 3rd 2011, Barentz Europe B.V. acquired these remaining shares as well and is now hundred percent owner of Barentz Hungary Kft.

With this step the Joint Venture between Barentz and Campi y Jove strengthen its business and improve its distribution performance in the North African region.
Protein-rich food in stride against obesity
Nine companies and universities have joined forces in combating obesity. They will develop and produce healthy food products and ingredients that are rich in protein, and then introduce these in properly monitored diet programmes. To determine individual diet prescriptions, a test based on biomarkers will be developed.
Barentz Production companies Vitablend and Barentz Ingredients gear up for the future
Vitablend in Wolvega, Barentz Ingredients in Almelo and L.I. Frank in Twello together form the Production Division of Barentz Europe. In order to accommodate the growth of Vitablend and Barentz Ingredients, the production of both companies will be centralized in Wolvega over the next few months.
Barentz becomes exclusive distributor in Bulgaria and Romania for Ashland Aqualon
Ashland Aqualon Functional Ingredients (AAFI) a commercial unit of Ashland Inc. (NYSE: ASH), has entered into an exclusive distribution agreement with Barentz in Bulgaria and Romania effective April 1, 2009.
Barentz sets up operation in Serbia
Barentz Europe BV announces the opening of its 19th European entity in Belgrade, Serbia, serving Serbia and the other former Yugoslav states. Barentz is already active in these countries notably form its operations in Bulgaria, Czech Republic and Hungary. With Barentz D.O.O. Beograd, the company is making an important step in realising its pan-European ambitions and it shows the commitment of Barentz to the Balkan region as a whole.
AB Enzymes, Barentz confirm strong partnership
AB Enzymes and Barentz have signed an agreement that makes Barentz the preferred distributor in Europe for AB Enzymes’ Baking and Food & Specialties divisions. The agreement entails a continuation of current representation in most European countries, as well as an expansion into new territories.
